About
I’m David Galpin, a sports fan, music lover and photographer from the north west of England who has recently relocated to London. Since graduating from University in 2007 with a BA (Hons) in photography, I have been honing my digital photography skills and building up a folio of images I am proud of. Building up a professional photography kit and becoming a confident user, was something I wanted to do before attempting to forge a career in photography.
I have tried to develop my photography technique and style over the past few years; my key attributes being my eye for composition and an ability to see something different that maybe happening away from the main focus of the play. In the past I have been influenced by the documentary styles of football photographers like Stuart Clarke and Colin McPherson as well as the photographic content and style of the magazine ‘When Saturday Comes’. I believe photography is an excellent tool for telling a story to those in attendance and to those not at the event and I believe the way in which I photograph football and other sporting events helps to tell this story.
While growing up I always had the desire to take up a profession that I enjoyed. Ever since I started to develop a passion and talent in photography, the idea of being a professional photographer is something that has become my aim in life.
I think it is always good for people to have ambitions and dreams in life; otherwise our lives can become stagnant. I love to travel, I love to photograph whatever catches my eye and I’m a passionate football and sports fan. To be able to combine all of my passions into a job I love is my ultimate goal. Being a credited photographer at such events as the World Cup Finals and the Olympics is the pinnacle of the sports field or being a credited photographer at such events as Glastonbury or top acts in arenas and stadiums at music events is where I would love to be photographing in the future.
